“Georgia Gold” Chicken is Coming to KFC January 29th

…and it’s gonna be a doozy.

In an effort to replicate the success of KFC’s “Nashville Hot” line (the dish that KFC’s head chef, Bob Das, said was “his favorite new menu item in his 16 years working at the chain”), KFC is rolling out the latest in its exploration of regional BBQ flavors. From KFC’s “Chicken Chattin’” blog:

We’ve struck gold, folks. Not the precious metal, but a new precious recipe called Georgia Gold: a delicious honey mustard BBQ sauce that goes perfect on our famous fried chicken. This sweet and tangy triumph will be available soon at a KFC near you as tenders, bone-in chicken, or Chicken Littles®. And that’s what gold rush prospectors would call a bonanza.

The early reviews seem encouraging (“Georgia Gold” is currently being tested in Pittsburg, PA and Mobile, AL), with Business Insider calling the new chicken flavor “some of the best [chicken] KFC has ever served.”

Will “Georgia Gold” pack enough of a flavor wallop to unseat “Nashville Hot,” currently one of our favorite fast food limited time offers of all time? We’ll have to wait until January 29, when Georgia Gold rolls out nationwide.
